10. Similan Islands
In Similan Islands in the western
Andaman Sea, a national park was established in 1982. The park is a
chain of island consisting nine islands. The islands are covered in
tropical jungle and equipped with white sandy beaches. The Similan
National park is famous for its diving sites. Richelieu Rock, part of
Surin National Park is the most important of all diving sites in the
Similan especially for its variety and abundance of marine life.
The underwater view are even more
exotic. Around the Similan Islands, there are two different kind of
diving spots. West facing dive sites feature massive granite boulders,
covered with hard and soft corals while East facing dive sites consists
of gently sloping coral reefs. Depths can range from 15 to 40 meters in
this area. It’s a major tourist attraction in Thailand.
9. Maldives Reefs
Maldives, an island country famous for
its tranquil nature and tropical beauty has some of the best dive spots
in the world. Particularly fascinating diving excursions in the Maldives
is not only the shoal itself but also the wide variety of marine life
one can catch a peek of.
The shoal around the Maldives are the home to parrot fish, colorful sponges, sweetlips

8. Bunaken
Situated at the north of the island of
Sulawesi in Indonesia, Bunaken national park is well known for its
diving sites. Between the months of April and November is the best time
for diving in Bunaken. Bunaken national park was established in 1991.
A very rich coral ecosystem covers most
of Bunaken National Park, dominated by barrier reef corals and fringing
reef. Different species of fish, marine mammals and reptiles, birds,
molluscs and mangrove species are also abundant in the park.

7. Great Blue Hole

become a protected area and all the resorts on the island are now
closed. Diving is allowed in a restricted way. Only 120 dives are
allowed daily. It is the center of one of the richest marine habitats in
the world.
